This is a much loved recipe from Anna's grandmother Mildred, and one of her a time favorite cookies.

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder

1 cup shortening
3 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
raisins

Sift together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add the eggs and beat well. Add the flour mixture. Mix well.

Form into rolls of dough about 1.5" diameter in waxed paper. Let stay in refrigerator until firm. Slice in 1/4 inch thick slices. Use thumb to depress the center of the cookies. Add a small drop of raisins. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
