Mix the baking soda with the reserved raisin liquid.
Cream the sugar and shortening together. Add in
the eggs and mix. Add the raisins, and soda/raisin-juice
mixture while the liquid is still warm. Add all
other ingredients and mix well. Drop by teaspoonful
onto un-greased cookie sheet. Cook 10-12 minutes
at 350.
NOTE: For variety add pecans or coconut.
